Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an energy converter (20) for converting electric energy, comprising - at least one controllable switching element (28) which provides at least one switch element-specific switch time period (40) required by the switching element (28) to change the switch state of a switching path (64) of the switching element (28) between a switched-off switch state and a switched-on switch state on the basis of a switch signal (38) provided to a control connection (30) of the switching element (28), and - a control unit (36) which is designed to provide the switch signal (38) such that the switching element (28) is operated in a switch operation on the basis of the switch signal (38) in order to convert the electric energy, wherein - the control unit (36) is additionally designed to provide the switch signal (38) depending on the at least one switch element-specific switch time period (40) with respect to a point in time such that when the energy converter (20) is operated as intended, at least one specifiable switch time period (42) is reached at the point in time using the controllable switch element (28).
