The image data generator (2) generates image data (DD). The controller (3) generates a gradation control signal (GCS) based on the image data (DD). The liquid crystal element (5) includes a first substrate (20) and a light receiver (6). The first substrate (20) has a pixel region (21) in which a plurality of pixel electrodes (24) constituting pixels are arranged. The light receiver (6) photoelectrically converts light (SL) with which the pixel region (21) is irradiated to generate a light reception signal (LRS). The light reception signal detector (4) generates a drive control signal (SCS) based on the light reception signal (LRS). The liquid crystal element (5) changes a wavefront (WF) of the light (SL) with which the pixel region (21) is irradiated by applying different drive voltages (DV) to the plurality of pixel electrodes (24) based on the gradation control signal (GCS). |
