Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a brake cylinder, in particular for a rail vehicle, the brake cylinder comprising: a locking device for mechanical braking force locking; and an axially movable service brakepiston in a housing. The service brake piston can be moved by the application of a pressure medium and engages with a piston tube, the piston tube being designed with a non-self-locking thread which engages with a nut rotatably mounted in the housing, the locking device cooperating with the toothing of the nut. The locking device is provided with one or more pawls, a control piston, an emergency release mechanism and a locking element of the emergency release mechanism. The brake cylinder is designed in such a way that the locking device (10) has an actuating device (14) which comprises the control piston (16), the emergency release mechanism in the form of an emergency release wedge (15), at least one locking element (17), at least one energy storage element (18) and a connection mechanism (21) for manual release.
