GATEWAY MANAGED TERMINAL UPLINK POWER CONTROL
A system and method for managing a terminal uplink power, and a terminal (106) having uplink power managed by a gateway (104) are provided. The method including: dividing, at a gateway (104), a beam coverage area (202) into sub-beams (SB1-SB11) and each of the sub-beams into one or more frequency bi...

Zusammenfassung: | A system and method for managing a terminal uplink power, and a terminal (106) having uplink power managed by a gateway (104) are provided. The method including: dividing, at a gateway (104), a beam coverage area (202) into sub-beams (SB1-SB11) and each of the sub-beams into one or more frequency bins (304.1, 304.2, 304.3, 314.1, 314.2); associating a sub-beam (SB1-SB11) of the sub-beams with terminals (106) located within the sub-beam (SB1-SB11); determining Transmit Power (TP) values including a transmit power or attenuation for each of the one or more frequency bins (304.1, 304.2, 304.3, 314.1, 314.2) of the sub-beam (SB1-SB11); sending, from the gateway (104), the TP values of the sub-beam (SB1-SB11) to the terminals (106) via a forward link; and receiving, at the gateway (104), a burst transmitted using a terminal transmit power calculated from the TP values of the sub-beam (SB1-SB11). The TP values may change in response to an SNR measurement at the gateway (104) and/or feedback from the terminal (106). |
