Zusammenfassung:	Method for carrying out a cytotoxicity test in the ophthalmic sector, comprising a treatment step, in vitro, wherein a substance to be tested, in a concentration of interest, is put in contact with living human cells, and is kept in contact with the human cells, in predetermined incubating conditions for a predetermined incubating time interval, an evaluating step wherein the viability of the human cells subjected to the treatment step is evaluated, and a determining step wherein, based on the viability evaluated in that way, the cytotoxicity or non-cytotoxicity of the substance to be tested is determined, wherein for carrying out the method use is made of human cells constituted of one or more first pieces of a full thickness human retina, obtained from an eyeball explanted from a deceased subject, and wherein the treatment step starts within seventy-two hours of the death of the deceased subject.
