A connection device (1) for connecting an electrical conductor (2) comprises a contact element (10), which forms a plug opening (102) for the insertion of an electrical conductor (2), and a spring element (11) that is arranged on the contact element (10) and that has a spring limb (111) for locking in position a conductor (2) inserted into the plug opening (102). A slide element (13) is displaceably arranged with respect to the contact element (10) and has an active section (133) for acting on the at least one spring limb (111). In addition, an adjusting element (12), which can pivot around a pivot axis (120) with respect to the contact element (10), is provided, said adjusting element being pivotable out of a first position into a second position in order to transfer the slide element (13) from a starting position into a release position. In this way, a connection device that is easy to use for the user, in particular, for plugging in an electrical conductor or for releasing an electrical conductor plugged into the connection device, is provided.
