Zusammenfassung:	A rotary press (1) and a method for printing width compensation are provided. The invention aims to provide a solution. According to the solution, in the moving direction (LR) of a web, the width change of a first printed image applied by a first printing unit (4-1) can be compensated. A device disclosed by the invention comprises the rotary press (1). At least one image control device (6) is arranged on the upstream of a roller set (5) when being observed from the moving direction (LR) of the web. The invention also relates to a method for operating the rotary press (1). In the moving direction (LR) of the web, the operation of reducing the web width (B) to an effective width (b) is performed on the upstream of the roller set (5) of the first printing unit (4-1).
