Zusammenfassung:Hydro-electric turbine component (100) and method for enhancing life of the hydro-electric turbine component (100) by applying erosion resistant coating (250) are disclosed. The hydro-electric turbine component (100) includes a wedge-shaped substrate (210) having a tip portion (212) and at least two side portions (216). An erosion resistant coating (250) is disposed on the wedge-shaped substrate (210), such that the erosion resistant coating (250) disposed at the tip portion (212) is at least 2 times thicker than the erosion resistant coating (250) disposed at the side portions (216). The erosion resistant coating (250) has at least 99.5 percentage density. The method includes the steps of coating the tip portion (212) of the substrate (210) by a high velocity air fuel process and then coating the side portions (216) by the high velocity air fuel process.
