The axle drive is provided with: an electric machine (2) for driving at least one output shaft (15) of the axle of the motor vehicle; and a spur gear transmission device(5), the electric axle drive (1) comprises two gears , and by means of the electrical machine (2), via at least one spur gear transmission device (5), a component of a planetary gear (14) is driven, the planetary gear (14) is switchable between two gears which are realized by a combination of a brake (22) and a clutch (21) and the planetary gear, wherein the brake and the clutch are radially separately arranged, and the brake (22) and the clutch (21) are arranged opposite to each other when being not radially separately arranged.
