METHOD AND DEVICE FOR HANDLING PIECES, ARTICLES AND/OR CONTAINERS

The invention relates to a method and device (10) for handling pieces (2), articles and/or containers for the purpose of forming layers that can be transported by pallets. The pieces (2) are transported in single or multi-row formation (F) by means of a transport device (3) in a transport direction (TR) to a grouping module (20) with a horizontal conveying device (6) and a manipulator (5). Withinthe grouping module, the manipulator captures a periodic piece comprising at least one piece, and transfers the periodic piece to a target position (P) and/or target orientation according to an arrangement mode to a layer to be constructed. In order to construct the layer, the manipulator captures a first periodic piece (11), spatially separates the same from the formation and takes the same to afirst target position and/or target direction relative to a subsequent piece. In order to construct the layer, a second periodic piece (12), which is spaced apart from a subsequent piece, is formed inthe grouping module. A second periodic piece is then captured by the manipulator and brought to a second target position and/or target direction within the grouping module.
