METHOD FOR SEPARATING LAYERS OF A LAMINATED TEXTILE PRODUCT AND A SYSTEM TO APPLY THIS METHOD

Method for separating layers (2,7) of a laminated textile product (1), the laminated textile product comprising a first layer (2) comprising a primary carrier sheet with yarns stitched therein, which yarns form a pile on the front surface of this sheet, and a second layer (7) comprising a secondary carrier sheet operatively connected to the back surface of the primary carrier sheet by use of an intermediate layer comprising a thermoplastic adhesive, the method comprising heating the intermediate layer to a temperature above a softening temperature of the thermoplastic adhesive, and thereafter mechanically taking hold of the first layer, while at the same time mechanically taking hold of the second layer, and applying forces on both layers in diverging directions to separate the first layer from the second layer, wherein the first layer is taken hold of by grasping at least part of the yarns. The disclosure also pertains to a system that is suitable for applying this method.
