Eyewear having: an optical module having optical properties that change; an input unit that receives instructions from a user; a sensing unit that detects the usage environment of the optical module; a storage unit that stores at least conditions that change the optical properties of the optical module; and a control unit that performs electric control of the optical module, in accordance with a set mode, by using electric control. The set modes include: a first mode in which the control unit electrically controls the optical module on the basis of a condition stored in the storage unit and a detection value for the sensing unit; and a second mode in which the control unit electrically controls the optical module on the basis of instructions received by the input unit. The conditions stored in the storage unit are updated on the basis of the detection value for the sensing unit when the input unit has received an instruction in the second mode. As a result, eyewear is provided whereby: conditions in which a function is expressed can be changed to match unique user information and user preferences; and prescribed functions can be automatically executed.
