The invention relates to a liquid concentrate comprising the plant growth regulator prohexadione dissolved in a ionic liquid, the ionic liquid comprising an organic base and a strong acid. The ionic liquid may comprise a tertiary amide, imine or amine. The strong acid preferably is ethephon.
