TRANSMITTING SECURITY INFORMATION OVER A WIRED LINK

A transmitter for transmitting security information over a wired link is provided. The transmitter includes a processor configured to receive a first physical layer transmit frame comprising at least a first plurality of bits indicative of a payload and a second plurality of consecutive zero-bits. Further, the processor is configured to replace at least part of the second plurality of zero-bits with a third plurality of bits indicative of the security information in order to generate a second physical layer transmit frame. The transmitter additionally includes an interface configured to output, based on the second physical layer transmit frame, one or more transmit signals to the wired link.
