METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ESTIMATING THE VISCERAL FAT OF A LIVING BODY

The method (10) for estimating the visceral fat of a living body comprises the following steps: - acquiring (11) at least one representative image of a body composition of an abdomen; - determining (12) at least one curve representative of the projection of the total fat in one section; for each section: - identifying (13) four defined landmarks such that: - the first and the fourth landmarks correspond to the transition from a zero total fat value to a non-zero value, - the second and the third landmarks represent a local maximum and - the curves between the first and the second and between the third and the fourth landmarks are projection portions of an ellipse; - defining (14) at least two intervals between the second and third landmarks; - for each interval, estimating (15) a function for approximating the expected variations of the projection; - calculating (16) the amount of visceral fat including the subtraction of the approximation function from the curve.
