ENDOSCOPE HAVING MULTIPLE VIEWING DIRECTIONS

The present invention discloses an endoscope (2), comprising a shaft defining a longitudinal axis (A) and having a distal tip (4), an elevator (6) having a lumen (8), wherein the elevator (6) includes a distal portion (28) that is bendable relative to a proximal portion of the elevator (6), the lumen (8) having a distal-end opening (30), and the distal portion (28) of the elevator (6) defining a longitudinal axis (8) through a center of the distal portion (28), the distal portion (28) of the elevator (6) being movable between a first configuration and a second configuration, and a medical device (32) positioned within the elevator (6), wherein walls of the distal tip (4) include a lateral opening (38) and a distal opening (40) to allow the medical device (32) exiting the distal-end opening (30) of the elevator (6) to access an exterior of the endoscope (2), wherein the lateral opening (38) and the distal opening (40) combine to form a single opening at the distal tip (4) that is both distal facing and side facing.
