Zusammenfassung: | Provided are a method of producing an optical article including a cured layer of a liquid crystal compound on a surface of a solid base body having a curved surface, the surface including at least a part of the curved surface, and having uniform optical properties in the cured layer and an optical article. A liquid crystal composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a solvent having a viscosity of 4.0 mPa·s or less and a relative evaporation rate of 5.0 or less in a case where the evaporation rate of butyl acetate is 1.0, in which a proportion of the solvent is 20% by mass or more in all the solvents, is applied directly or via another layer on the surface of the solid base body having the curved surface, the surface including at least a part of the curved surface, and then the liquid crystal compound is cured. The coating includes a spray coating step of applying the liquid crystal composition by spray coating while keeping a constant distance between a spray nozzle and the surface in a normal direction, a spin coating step of applying the liquid crystal composition by spin coating, or a dip coating step of applying the liquid crystal composition by dip coating. |
