Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method (1) for controlling a variable scroll speed (s) used while scrolling through a dataset (26, 27, 28, 29) that is being output to a user by a data processing device. To allow the user to quickly, easily and efficiently scroll through large amounts of data without missing important details thereof at least one point of interest (30) in the dataset (26, 27, 28, 29) is identified, and the scroll speed (s) is then automatically varied by the data processing device during the scrolling depending on a distance (p) between a current scrolling position in the dataset (26, 27, 28, 29) and the at least one point of interest (30).
