LIGHTING SYSTEM WITH FACILITATED FIRMWARE UPDATING

Described is a lighting system (1), comprising: a plurality of LED illuminators (3) electrically connected to a power cable (2); a power/monitoring/control module (4) associated with each LED illuminator (3); a power supply device (5) electrically connected to the power cable (2); a central control unit (6) provided for sending, by means of power-line-communication along the power cable (2), to the modules (4) encoded messages for determining the switching on and switching off times of the relative LED illuminator (3). According to the invention, updating versions of the firmware of the modules (4) and configuration messages of the modules (4) are in the same way transmitted towards the power/monitoring/control modules (4) by means of power-line-communication along the power cable (2). A Web server (16) may be connected using suitable interface to the power cable (2) to guarantee additional services, such as the logging of events or access by Web interface, to allow control and diagnostic operations to be performed from a remote position. Power-line-communication along the power cable (2) is also used for the execution of a diagnostic algorithm divided into two parts, of which a first part executed periodically and automatically and a second part which can be executed on request specifically for a single module (4).
