The first surface (142a) surrounds core region of the telecommunications cable (100). The first surface (142a) defines a plurality of grooves (144) extending radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis (130) of the telecommunications cable (100). The first groove area section (146a) and the second groove area section (146b) are in continuous contact with each other. In addition, the jacket (140) body includes a second surface (142b). The second surface (142b) extends along the longitudinal axis (130) of the telecommunications cable (100) and disposed in a spaced relation to the first surface (142a).
