APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING THE POSITION OF A MOBILE MEDICAL DEVICE

The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for detecting the position of a mobile medical device (M) on the skin surface of a human or animal patient (P) by means of an electrical signal which is emitted by a signal source (10) on the body of the patient and is propagated along the skin surface, which apparatus comprises: a receiving electrode (20) for receiving the electrical signal; and an evaluation unit (24) operatively connected to the receiving electrode (20) for evaluating the received electrical signal. The receiving electrode (20) or the signal source (10) is designed as a device electrode (G) for attachment to the mobile medical device (M), in order to produce an electrical contact with the skin surface when the mobile medical device (M) is positioned on the skin surface. The evaluation unit (24) is configured in order to calculate location information of the receiving electrode (20) relative to the signal source (10) with reference to a characteristic of the received electrical signal, and in order to obtain a position of the mobile medical device (M) from the location information.
