DEVICE FOR CUTTING ROD-LIKE ARTICLES AND MACHINE USING SUCH A DEVICE

The present invention relates to an device (10) for constructing and arranging a rod-like article (11) for cutting multiple lengths of use in the tobacco processing industry. The device comprises a cutting drum (12) rotatably driven about a rotational axis I, the cutting drum (12) having a recess (13) on its circumferential surface for receiving and retaining the rod-like article (11); the recess(13) are oriented parallel to the axis of rotation I such that the rod-like article (11) can be transported transversely to its central axis. The device further includes a cutting device (14) disposedin a circumferential region of the cutting drum (12) such that the cutting device (14) can be brought into engagement with the rod-like article (11) in the recess (13). It is characterized in that the cutting device (14) comprises a turret-driven tool holder (15) having at least one blade holder (17) carrying a cutting blade (16). The invention also relates to a machine, in particular a filter applicator or a filter assembly device, of the tobacco processing industry, having a device (10).
