Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a household refrigerating appliance and a method for operating a household refrigerating appliance. The household refrigerating appliance comprises a heat-insulated body withan inner container defining a refrigerated interior provided for storing food, a refrigerant circuit provided with a refrigerant for cooling the interior and a compressor, an electric drive with an electric motor, and an electronic control device. The compressor comprises a compression chamber with an inlet and with an outlet, a piston displaceably mounted inside the compression chamber, a crankshaft, and the electric motor of the electric drive. The electric motor comprises a stator and a rotor rotatably mounted with respect to the stator and coupled to the piston via the crankshaft. The electronic control device is set to operate the electric motor during cooling phases of the household refrigerating appliance at a nominal speed of at least 800 revolutions per minute, in order to be ableto control through the crankshaft the piston to move back and forth between a top dead center at which a volume enclosed by the compression chamber and the piston for compressing the refrigerant is minimum, and a bottom dead center at which the volume is maximum. Between the cooling phases, the rotor of the electric motor stands still during stationary phases of the compressor.
