COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR ESTIMATING A FREQUENCY OFFSET

A communication device is described comprising a receiver configured to generate a received synchronization signal in response to receiving a synchronization signal, a first correlator configured to generate a correlation signal by correlating the received synchronization signal with a reference synchronization signal, a delay line configured to delay the correlation signal by each of a plurality of delays, a second correlator for each delay configured to correlate the delayed correlation signal with the correlation signal, one or more normalizers configured to generate one or more normalized correlation values, wherein the one or more normalizers comprise a normalizer for each delay different from a reference delay configured to generate a normalized correlation signal by normalizing, with respect to the reference delay, a correlation value which is based on the correlation of the delayed correlation signal with the correlation signal and a frequency offset estimator configured to estimate a frequency offset based on the one or more normalized correlation values.
