According to the invention, the two working crown layers (41, 42) and the at least one layer (43) of circumferential reinforcement elements extend only over at least 40% of the tread width to form the crown reinforcement, the absolute value of the difference between the absolute values of the angles α2 and α1 being of more than 12°, α2 being greater than α1 in absolute value, the average angle α satisfying the equation 14+131*exp(-L/100) < α < 28+110*exp(-L/100), and the ratio of utilisation of the rupture potential F2/FR2 of the radially outermost working layer (42) being of less than 1/6.
