Zusammenfassung:	A method for selecting a node for performing a network service request. The method comprising monitoring a network comprising a plurality of nodes and updating, periodically and/or upon detecting a change in the network or nodes being monitored, a database with at least information relating to the status of the nodes being monitored, and network conditions on a path between the nodes being monitored and the host entity and/or load on the nodes being monitored. The method further comprising at a selection node (105), receiving (201) a request for a network service issued by a host entity (101); selecting (203), based at least on information obtained (202) from the database, a node (102; 103) for performing the requested network service; and sending (204) a message to the host entity, the message including information identifying the selected node.
