Zusammenfassung:	Vacuum bell probe (10) for detecting leaks in underground gas pipes, comprising a flexible suction cup (12) having a bottom side forming a suction opening (22), the suction cup defining an interior volume (36), characterized in that the bottom side (20) comprises a soft seal ring (32) having a higher elasticity than the suction cup (12), surrounding the suction opening (22) and forming a contact surface adapted to create a seal in contact with a ground surface under which a gas leak is assumed such that a vacuum may be generated within the interior volume (36) upon contact to the ground surface.
