Zusammenfassung:	A piston made of cast steel or gray cast iron for an internal combustion engine comprises a cooling channel, shaft walls (16, 18) and connecting walls (20) between the shaft walls (16, 18) and is asymmetrical between the pressure side and the back-pressure side, in the direction of the piston axis, in respect of the width of the shaft walls (16, 18) and/or the thickness and/or dimensions of the connecting walls (20). A method for manufacturing said piston is also described.
