Zusammenfassung:	Polylactides are formed by forming and depolymerizing a low molecular weight poly(lactic acid) to form a crude lactide, separating meso-lactide to form a meso-lactide stream that is enriched in impurities, purifying the meso-lactide-enriched stream by melt crystallization, recombining at least a portion of the purified meso-lactide stream with an S,S- and R,R-lactide stream and polymerizing the recombined streams.
