The cosmetic of the present invention includes an effective amount of a protein obtained by converting some or all of disulfide bonds (-S-S-) in a water-insoluble protein, such as keratin, to aminoethyl disulfide groups (-S-S-CH 2 -CHR-NH 2 ; wherein R is H, COOH, OH, NH 2 , or CH 3 ).
