Zusammenfassung:	In an information providing method and apparatus for a vehicle, when a predetermined permission condition is satisfied in a state in which the vehicle is stopped with a brake being operated by a driver, an engine is automatically stopped. When the permission condition is not satisfied in the state in which the vehicle is stopped by the brake operation, then the driver is notified of support information for satisfying the permission condition. Further, in a state in which the driver is being notified of the support information and a vehicle stop keeping control is in operation to generate a braking force that is capable of maintaining a vehicle stopped state, then even when the brake operation decreases, notification of the support information will be stopped when it is determined that the driver is not willing to stop the engine automatically;
