A fan wheel designed as a radial fan wheel or diagonal fan wheel, having a multiplicity of fan blades which are distributed about an axial axis of rotation, having a cover disc which is of arcuate form in radial section and which lies with its bottom side at least in sections on axial face sides of the fan blades and which has an inlet opening around the axis of rotation, wherein the cover disc which is of arcuate form in radial section has a radial inner section, in which an angle tangent to a radial plane of the fan wheel is greater than 45°, and an outer section, which adjoins the inner section in the radial direction, characterized in that, in the inner section, on the top side, which is situated opposite the bottom side, of the cover disc, there is arranged at least one air-guiding element which projects radially and axially from the top side of the cover disc and which has a guide surface pointing in a circumferential direction.
