LAUNDRY TREATMENT APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

A laundry treatment apparatus includes a cabinet having first (110) and second (120) washing apparatuses that treat laundry introduced through a front opening and through a top opening, respectively. The second washing apparatus (220) includes: a tub (122) that holds water and has an opening at a top that is accessible through the second opening; a drum (200) inside the tub (122) that rotates about a vertical shaft; an agitation unit (600) protruding upward from a center bottom surface of the drum (200) that agitates water and laundry inside the rotating drum (200); a heater (118) that heats water in the tub (122); a water supply valve (125a) controlling a flow of water into the tub (122); and at least one processor that controls the heater (118) to heat a first amount of water in the tub (122) to a first temperature; and controls the water supply valve (125a) to additionally supply, to the first amount of water, incremental amounts of water to into the tub.
