The invention relates to an electro-pneumatic parking brake device (200) of a motor vehicle (170) comprising an electronic control unit (14), a compressed air supply (110, 158), an electro-pneumatic parking brake control unit (1) which can assume at least the state "drive" and the state "park", and a valve device (132) which has at least one electromagnetic valve controlled by the electronic control unit (14), a second supply connection (134) connected to the at least one compressed air supply (158), a second vent (136), and a second operating output (138). The electro-pneumatic parking brake control unit (1) is designed to be bistable and has at least the state "drive" and the state "park" as stable states. A sensor device (166) is provided which detects the movement state of the vehicle (170) and the current stable state of the electro-pneumatic parking brake control unit (1), and triggers a movement signal, representing the current movement state of the vehicle (170), and a state signal, representing the current stable state of the electro-pneumatic parking brake control unit (1), in the electronic control unit (14).
