The invention relates to a washing machine (1), comprising a machine housing (2), a suds container (4), which is accommodated in the housing and is held in such a way that the suds container can move in a vibratory manner in relation to the housing, a laundry drum (7), which is accommodated in the suds container in a rotationally movable manner and which has a loading opening (8), which is aligned with the axis of rotation (6) of the drum and which is surround by an opening (8') of the suds container, wherein the opening (8') of the suds container is aligned with a loading and unloading opening (3) in the housing, wherein the openings (8'; 3) are connected by means of a hose-like sleeve (9) that enables vibration compensation, while there is a gap between the frame (14, 14a, 14b) of the housing door (13) and a ring-like region (2a) surrounding the loading and unloading opening (3) in the closed state of the door (13), wherein the gap d3', d3", according to the invention, is enlarged in a lower partial region in comparison with the remaining region of the gap.
