A modular ventilatory support apparatus (10) according to the invention comprises:a compressor unit (14) for providing compressed gas to a ventilator (12), the compressor unit (14) including: an ambient air inlet port (70) for receiving ambient air;a compressor (83) for pressurizing the ambient air to produce the compressed gas;a compressed gas output port (58) for providing the compressed gas to a hose (84) connected to a compressed gas inlet port (40) of the ventilator (12); anda wireless receiver (79) for receiving a signal transmitted by a wireless transmitter (31) of the ventilator (12), the compressor unit (14) providing the compressed gas to the ventilator (12) according to the signal received by the wireless receiver (79).
