Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to a starter (1) drive (3) for a motor vehicle including: a sleeve (23) comprising a shoulder (29) and a stop element (33), a gear (5) slidably mounted on the sleeve (23) between the stop element (33) and the shoulder (29), at least one resilient member (31) mounted between the gear (5) and the shoulder (29) and being suitable for having a rest position in which the gear (5) abuts against the stop element (33) and a compressed position in which the gear (5) is distant from said stop element (33). The invention in characterized in that the resilient member (31) is mounted, in the rest position thereof, such that the gear (5) is prestressed to a load of between 40N and 80N.
