Zusammenfassung:Disclosed are a mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same. A mobile terminal(100) includes a wireless communication unit(110) to transmit/receive a message, a display unit(151) for displaying a message-based screen and the transmitted/received message on the message-based screen, and a controller(180) for, if an element representing an emotional state is detected from the displayed message, creating a moving GIF image representing the corresponding emotional state, and providing the created GIF image together with the message, wherein the GIF image is created based on an image shared on the message-based screen.
