The regulator (600) includes valve features to reduce valve chatter or hammering and provide a more reliable pressure seal. The pressure regulator (600) comprises a first stage piston (14) including a depressor (12) arranged to move with the first stage piston (14) and contact the first valve ball (16) to move the first valve ball (16) away from the outlet opening (13), the depressor (12) having a rigid, convex contact surface arranged to contact the first valve ball (16).
