Zusammenfassung:	Method and control unit in a vehicle for avoiding an accident at an unattended crosswalk. The method comprises: detecting an approaching crosswalk; detecting a Vulnerable Road User (VRU) in the vicinity of the crosswalk; determining that the detected VRU is going to walk across the road; determining a distance between the vehicle and the crosswalk; estimating a velocity of the VRU; determining a deceleration capacity of the vehicle, based on deceleration sensitivity of passengers on the vehicle, weight of the vehicle, and/or estimated friction between vehicle tires and the road; and determining a recommended action to be made by the vehicle.
