Provided are a display apparatus and a method of manufacturing the display apparatus. The display apparatus includes: a substrate (100) including a bending area (BA)located between a first area (1A) and a second area (2A) and bent in the bending area; a display unit arranged over an upper surface of the substrate and located in the first area; a protection film (175) located over a lower surface of the substrate and including a protection film base (170) and a viscous layer (180); and a bending protection layer (600) including a first bending protection layer (610) and a second bending protection layer (620) and corresponding to the bending area, wherein the protection film (175) is located over the lower surface of the substrate and has an opening (170OP) corresponding to the bending area (BA) or at least a part of the first area (1A), and wherein the first bending protection layer (610) is arranged over at least a part of a boundary of the opening or over an outside of the boundary of the opening, and at least a part of the second bending protection layer (620) is arranged over an inside of the boundary of the opening.
