Zusammenfassung:It is possible to facilitate operations to be performed by the user while reducing the size of a smear preparing apparatus (400) by reducing the dimension, in the left-right direction, of a transporter (210, 220) that transports storage tools (200) for microscope slides (10). A smear preparing apparatus (400) includes: a first transporter (210) that transports a storage tool (200) in a first direction, the storage tool (200) capable of holding microscope slides (10) side by side in the first direction; a slide transfer unit (60) that transfers a microscope slide (10) having a stained sample to the storage tool (200) transported by the first transporter (210); and a second transporter (220) that is adjacent to the first transporter (210) and that transports the storage tool (200) housing the microscope slide (10) transferred by the slide transfer unit (60), in a second direction opposite to the first direction.
