Zusammenfassung:	A chromatic dispersion compensation filter (200) includes: a frequency transform filter (242) configured to process at least two multi-bit sample streams (218) corresponding to a polarization component (Ιx, Qx) of a received optical signal to compute an array (220) representative of a spectrum of the received optical signal; a plurality of frequency domain filters (244a, 244b) configured to filter the array (220) output from the frequency transform filter (242) to derive a modified array (222), each frequency domain filter (242) configured to apply a selected chromatic dispersion compensating filter function to a respective frequency component of the array (220), wherein a length of each frequency domain filter (244a, 244b) is variable; and an inverse frequency transform filter (246) configured to derive a time domain output signal (228) based on the modified array (222).
