CIRCUIT BREAKER COMPRISING A PASSIVELY HEATED BIMETAL ELEMENT ACTING ON A STRIKING ARMATURE OF AN ELECTROMAGNETIC TRIPPING DEVICE

Disclosed is a circuit breaker comprising at least two terminal contacts which are electrically connected within the circuit breaker via a switching contact (1). The circuit breaker further comprises an electromagnetic tripping device (2) which acts on the switching contact (1) and the coil (3) of which is connected between the at least two terminal contacts, and a bimetal element (4) acting on the switching contact (1). In said circuit breaker, the electrical connection between the at least two terminal contacts bypasses the bimetal element (4), and the bimetal element is thermally coupled to the electromagnetic tripping device (2). Furthermore, the electromagnetic tripping device (2) comprises a movably mounted striking armature or tappet (25) which is affected directly or indirectly by the bimetal element (4).
