Zusammenfassung:An elevator car (34) is constructed and arranged to move along a hoistway (26) defined by a stationary structure (28). The elevator car (24) includes a cabin (34) and a component (32) constructed and arranged to be in motion with respect to the cabin (34). A generator (64) is carried by the cabin (34) and is mechanically coupled to the component (32) for driving the generator (64) as the elevator car (24) moves along the hoistway (26). An energy storage device (66) of the elevator car (24) is carried by the cabin (34) and is configured to be charged by the generator (64). An electrical load of the elevator car (24) is powered by at least one of the energy storage device (66) and the generator (64).
