The solid portion (14...314) of the part (10...310) is formed. A solid core (12; 12A-E; 112; 212; 312; 412) is formed within at least a portion of the internal passage (16...316). Forming the solid core (12... 412) includes forming an attachment feature (20; 20A-E; 120; 320A-B) and forming a shearing feature (22; 22A-E; 122; 222; 322A-B; 416). Material (18; 118; 218; 318) that is not fused, either semi-sintered or un-sintered, is positioned between the solid portion (14...314) and the solid core (12...412). A force selected from the group consisting of a tensile, compressive, vibratory, and torsional force is applied to the solid core (12...412) at the attachment feature (20...320A-B).
