LABELS FOR CONTAINERS AND METHODS OF MAKING LABELS

The present invention relates to a method of affixing a label to an object having sides and an end, wherein the sides join the end to form a shoulder, wherein the method comprises: applying a shrink label around the object, wherein the shrink label extends above the shoulder and extends to an end of the object opposite the shoulder, heating the shrink label at the shoulder at a sufficient temperature and for a sufficient time to shrink the label extending above the shoulder of the object to contact the shoulder end, wherein said shrink label comprises a film comprising two outer layers and a core layer, wherein the core layer is arranged between the outer layers and the outer layers each comprise from about 10% to about 30% of the total film thickness and the core layer may comprise from about 70% to about 90% of the total film thickness, wherein: the outer layers comprise a blend of about 65% to about 99% by weight polyethylene and 0% to about 30% by weight ethylene vinyl acetate, and about 1% to about 5% antiblock; and the core layer comprises about 0% to about 30% by weight polyethylene, about 30% to about 50% by weight polypropylene, about 10% to about 20% by weight ethylene vinyl acetate, about 10% by weight calcium carbonate masterbatch comprising calcium carbonate in a linear low density polyethylene carrier resin, and about 20% titanium dioxide masterbatch comprising titanium dioxide in a linear low density polyethylene carrier resin.
