Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to the provision of driving instructions for a driver of a motor vehicle (10) during a parking maneuver. A maneuver (20) displays a planned parking direction (30) determined in accordance with the planned driving path (38) by means of a display unit (16) and, when the driver of the vehicle (10) guides the vehicle in the displayed driving direction, a distance (D) of the vehicle (10) to an obstacle (28) is detected by a sensor device (12). If the detected distance (D) falls below a predetermined distance value (Dmin), the displayed driving direction is initially changed by a monitoring unit (22) from the planned driving direction (30) to a different driving direction (32). The change between the planned driving direction (30) and the different driving direction (32) should not occur very often according to the invention. As a result, an additional change (36) of the displayed driving direction signaled by the maneuvering planning unit (20) and/or the monitoring unit (22) is prevented after the initial change (42).
