METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A TIRE WITH A MONOLAYER BELT COMPONENT

A pneumatic tire comprising a carcass, a single belt structure radially outside of the carcass and a tread component radially outside of the belt structure is disclosed. The single belt structure is a monolayer belt component (116) consisting of a continuously wound cord (305, 405, 505) or of a cont...

Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:A pneumatic tire comprising a carcass, a single belt structure radially outside of the carcass and a tread component radially outside of the belt structure is disclosed. The single belt structure is a monolayer belt component (116) consisting of a continuously wound cord (305, 405, 505) or of a continuous wound strip comprising at least one cord (305, 405, 505) forming a mesh of cords or strips. Also, a method for manufacturing a tire with a monolayer belt component is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of winding a cord (305, 405, 505) or of a strip comprising at least one cord (305, 405, 505) continuously about a first drum according to a predefined pattern to create a mesh of cords or strips defining a monolayer belt component (116); applying a tread component to the monolayer belt component (116); transferring the monolayer belt component (116) and the tread component to a second drum; applying the monolayer belt component (116) and the tread component to a carcass component on the second drum, the carcass component being inflated at a predetermined inflation pressure; reducing the predetermined inflation pressure of the carcass component by a predetermined amount; and stitching the monolayer belt component (116) and the tread component to the carcass component.
