The wire bundle is guided along a longitudinal center axis by a shaping element in order to guide and to specify the cross-sectional shape of the wire bundle in a feeding region immediately upstream of an extruder. The shaping element rotates about the longitudinal center axis, and the insulating sheath is subsequently applied to the wire bundle by the extruder.
